The Cutest Easter Story. (that I have)

This is a story my Mom told me recently, so I can’t verify if she made it up to get onto the blog or not.

I only wish I could reenact it for you in person.

GetAttachment

I can reenact the stoned-like face above. Maybe. But I could never, ever again pull off a short skirt like that again.

This incident happened Easter morning when I was about 4 or 5.

I was so excited when I awoke to find a huge basket full of goodies. (Apparently rocks and dirt were my favorite gifts until this point)

I checked out my basket of goodies, then I ran out the front door of our house, heading down the street to my friend Kim’s house. I needed to share the news with her.

I ran down the sidewalk (only 6 houses) and I was shouting:

“He CAME! He CAME! HE CAME!!!”

One of the homes between mine and Kim’s was our Ministers house.

He witnessed my excitement firsthand.

And wouldn’t you know it, when we attended church later that morning, I became part of his sermon.

He thought I was screaming for joy because of Jesus…but at that age, it was all about the Easter Bunny!

As I grew older I learned the truth about Easter. About Jesus.

But I don’t think our Minister ever learned the truth about me.

Bless his heart….

Happy Easter!

  1. that is funny… whether your mom made it up or not 🙂 and i just betcha that your minister knew. but sometimes you gotta embelish the story to make it really good. now that i think of it, your mom coulda done better if she was making it up. like add in a big dragon that was chasing you down the street… or a bear. love you! happy easter! hope that easter bunny comes again!

  3. I once read that when a true southerner says, \”Bless his heart\”, it's going to be followed with a gentle and veiled insult. The story was VERY cute. I don't imagine your mom made it up.Bless the minister's heart if he REALLY thought a little 4 or 5 year old kid would be THAT excited about Jesus on Easter morning.I'm sure some would, but they would be more of the 'don't receive Easter baskets' persuasion. You're always a hoot for me!!

  6. That picture is too cute! And, you could SO pull off a skirt like that now. As a matter of fact, I think you should wear it to church tomorrow, and see if the minister remembers you. 😉

  11. This story is SO great. I don't think your Mom made it up. I don't think she should have to make up stories to get on the blog. You tell her that you will put ANY stories she wants on the blog at ANY time… : ) Do you hear me?I hope you have a wonderful Easter. It is a special day to celebrate Jesus, isn't it? : )I hope the pastor is still preaching it in his sermons.

  13. That minister sure was best-case-scenario, wasn't he? I'm pretty sure I'd assume a 6 year old wasn't talking about the easter bunny.Cute story! And picture!

  14. You are definitely the hostess with the mostest! But, there's a lot to be said about being a guest.Oh no, it's hot in Florida already? I'm heading there next month and I'm hoping that living in TX for a few years has acclimated me to humidity. Why didn't you all just jump in the pool and cool off? If I were you I'd just mow the weeds!
