Good FOR you Rapunzul

We finally have internet at our house. Is it 1997? Turns out we were hit by lightning; that’s the 2nd time this year and possibly the 367th since 1997.

In a recent conversation with Linds I said in an applausable tone Good for you. I really meant it and I then I got to thinking, you can say it one way and it sounds nice, but if you change your tone, it sounds so sassy. So, I got all squirrely and said GOOD for YOU.

I don’t always put monsters on my blog, but when I do it’s him.

I finished the conversation, but kept telling myself throughout the day GOOD FOR YOU in my sassy ass tone.

I might be nuts.

Honestly, I had nothing to blog about today.

Not.a.damn.thing.

Then I remembered possibly the most important thing ever:

MY HAIR

I see my stylist religiously. No, not just on Sundays, but every six weeks we would visit and I’d have highlights and a trim.

I was due for that 7 weeks ago. So…..back to me doing math which is my least favorite thing ever. 7+6=13.

It’s been 13 weeks since my tendrils have been attended to. Salons opened a while ago, but my Liz doesn’t have anyone to watch her kids now that school and summer camp are cancelled.

Ma hairs are so long….

Ok, maybe not really long, but long for how I’ve been keeping it lately. And darker too.

Notice how I didn’t offer myself up to watch her kids. I’m nice, but not a maniac.

She offered to come to my house and I thought I would do that when I felt it necessary. But, I think I’m ok.

Am I ok?

I’ll see my girls on Sunday and get their opinion on the matter. They’ll tell me the truth. But it’s been kind of nice being (semi) low(ish)maintenance. Well, I’m still getting my nails did, because I’m not an animal.

I was so pleased to realize that I put on lipstick just before heading to the dentist where I had to wipe it all of. Wasted, yet again. .

And while I’m on the subject of the most important thing, I found out this past year that I have some gray hairs. I was so surprised to see them finally show up. It was like being 15 again and waiting for my period to come so I can suffer like the rest of my friends. I’m not so worried about them because I’m hoping they will have a coarser texture and it might look like I have SOME actual adult hairs on my head instead of toddler hair.

Also, won’t I be more distinguished? Is that how it works?

Anyhoo. For someone who doesn’t always have something to blog about I sure can fill a page.

*takes a bow* Wait, did someone just shout GOOD FOR YOU in the back row?

Happy Father’s Day to all you Dads, stepdads, Moms who are the Dads, Fur dads and doo-dads too.

What are y’all up to this weekend? Flying to Vegas or a weekend on the Riviera? Or are you cleaning your much too-used face masks.

*sigh* One day, this will hopefully be a distant memory.

XOXO

  1. The haircut situation is one that has me flummoxed, too. It’s been four months which is way longer than I usually go. But here’s the thing, I’m kind of grooving on what I’m calling my hippie hair. I’ve got curls and frizz that are cool in a tie-dye Carol King on Tapestry sort of way. Who knew?

  2. Just now getting gray hair? Good for YOU. You do look great, but I know the daughters will probably give a more informed opinion on the matter. Thank heavens for truth-telling children. Some of my children are good with dishing out the honest to goodness truth, but struggle to accept their own truth, like: “You need to learn not to leave a trail.” “You smell bad. Where exactly are you applying the deodorant?” “You need to eat more healthy.” and “If you don’t leave your stuff in the car, then when your brother takes the car to work the next morning you are not screwed.” If only I could find more opportunities to say GOOD FOR YOU. Hmm.

I cannot remember the last time my hair was this long. I think I had it cut in January, or maybe even before Christmas? I can actually wear a ponytail, which is great for working out (I usually wear a baseball hat) – the pony tail is a small collection of my dried up, crazy thin hair, so I don’t wear it that way on the regular – just when working out. Most toddlers could put my pony tail to shame. I have been babysitting a lot, so maybe next week I can see if I can get it cut.

No plans for the weekend. Need to figure out what Coach wants me to whip up for dinner.

    1. Thank you!!
Go on with your bad toddler ponytail self! 😉
I’ll let everyone know what my girls say about my situation.
Wishing your honey a happy Father’s day!

  3. Our hairstylists have been back in operation here for nearly a month, so I went this week and had a haircut. My first since Christmas. Felt so good to have it shorter again!

  4. My hair is ridiculously long. I’m kind of okay with it for now. But I’m not letting the grays take over. Not yet. I think your hair looks great!

Quick tip re: lipstick and dentists. CoverGirl Outlast lipstick. It’s the only lipstick I ever wear – it will last most of the day and won’t come off during your appointment. My dentist marvels on it every single time I have an appointment.

  5. I can relate to this long hair post.
I am still in a hair quarantine and not because of the ACTUAL quarantine.
I can’t get my hair cut until August. Le sigh.
Also, I just noticed a gray hair or two as well. I think it’s also because I have been highlighting my hair religiously since 1987.
I got kinda excited like I am part of the big girl club or something. HA, I’m sure that feeling won’t last long.

  6. Your hair is great! Good for you!! The other day I was looking all cute meaning I actually brushed my hair and wore lipstick- and then I had to put on that stupid mask that kept getting stuck to my lips and smearing luscious plum rose all over my face. I give up. Haha

  7. I’ve cut my own hair twice since lockdown started. I need a cut and highlights to cover up my many, many grey hairs (not saying I called you a bitch when I saw that picture, but I might have called you a no-gray-hair-having bitch when I saw that picture) but I don’t feel like it’s quite essential, so I keep putting it off. Although my stylist could probably really use the money, so…. urgh.

  8. I finally just had my hair colored yesterday (interrupting this comment to comment that grey hair only makes one look older!) and my hairdresser was surprised when I told her I only wanted 1/2 inch cut off! I’m loving my longer hair because I can pull it up and out of my way! Now that I am retired I have less desire to mess with my hair!
