This {cute dogs} And That {talented friends}

We went to the East Coast for the day to see our friends Don & Kelly; it’s been 2 weeks since we’ve been together; we might have a problem. They have a sweet boxer and their son has two sweet and rambunctious boxers; boy do I miss our boxers; they were such cute characters.

Milo, Tyson, Floyd. A trio of fun.

On our two hour drive back home I looked at our local Boxer rescue webpage seeing if they had any old girls available. Just when I said we were not getting ANY MORE CRITTERS.

Do you watch The Voice? I’ve never been a huge fan of competitive tv shows, but I’ve occasionally watched this one, but never a full season. I suppose, I just can’t commit. BUT, this season we will be watching because our friend Ben Allen is a contestant. In addition to being very talented, he’s a really nice person; he told us about this opportunity back in December, but with COVID, things were postponed. Ben and his band performed at our HoeDown party in 2016, he’s joined us for our Songwriters For Vets charity events, and this past Christmas, he stopped by our cocktail party and sang a few songs for us.

*sigh* I almost remember what it was like to have parties.

It’ll be fun to see how he does. Well, I kind of already know, but I’ll not spoil the fun for the rest of you.

That’s all the fun I have to share today. I hope you all had a nice weekend whether you watched boxer butts wiggle or just your own.

XO

  1. His voice is beautiful. Wow.
Yes, I miss parties too. Someday…

    I love boxers too.
My parents have a rescue dog but she is a mix so they weren’t sure what she was. The vet said she is a boxer mix; so adorable AND so loving.

I am so envious in the best way of your travels. I shall live vicariously through you. 🙂

  2. I’ve never seen The Voice. I know of it, of course. No reason why we don’t watch it, really.

I’ve never had a dog, but I gotta say that our neighbors had a boxer and he was a totally lovable goofball. Was sorry when they moved on, less about not seeing the people, more about not seeing their dog.

Good luck to your friend on The Voice! We had a boxer dog when I was a kid. We all loved Ginger so much — she was an extraordinarily gentle and loving dog. In those days, boxers always had cropped ears and docked tails — practices that are no longer allowed today, thank goodness. Much better for the dogs.

  4. I wish we had friends we were addicted to. . . sounds so fun. Now I went and made it sound like we are social lepers. Well ONE of us isn’t. Ha! Just kidding. Really. We had a couple we hung out with a ton. Kids lined up age- wise. Then we realized the wife was as crazy as a loon. Started behaving like my sisters, um- no thank you. Our kids are still friendly and in high school together. They will occasionally say: “did you know their mom is nuts?” Really? Hmm.

I digress, those are some cute dogs- love their names.

I have seen the Voice here and there. Not a regular , but I will tune in. How exciting. He has a wonderful voice.

    1. Jeff and Don have been friends since they were 8 years old. I met Don in HS and I met Kelly in 1990. We have a lot of history, but most of our close friends share a long history with us.

Ben has a fab voice. He wasn’t on last night….crossing our fingers that he is on tonight.

I don’t usually watch any reality tv, but when I was at my sister’s place for Thanksgiving along with my parents a few years ago we enjoyed hate-watching the finale of American Idol. That’s so cool that you know someone on it, though! I think my parents watch all those shows – my mom gets very invested in her favourites.
