The Good News & Questions?

I alluded a while ago that I had some good news to share and then poof, the proverbial shit hit the fan and I lost my blogging mojo.

The good news is that my Aunt and Uncle, (AT & UJ) after looking for almost a year found and were able to actually purchase a home in our ‘hood in Nawtth Jawjaa. They had put in offers on several homes, only to lose them because the market is brutal.

While I was up there with Kelly in April, we went and looked at this particular home a few hours after it was listed. The four of us LOVED it immediately. I mean, it had all the elements that they wanted: VIEWS, master bedroom, laundry and office on the main level, a flat and navigatable driveway and not too far from the gates of our ‘hood. Plus, it’s only eight minutes from our home. EIGHT.

It’s an older home and needs a few things to spruce it up, but nothing too crazy.

{Real furniture will be added after the floors are refinished}

It was just one year ago this week that the Coach and I even had the idea to buy a home up there and when we called my Aunt and Uncle (AT is a realtor) to discuss it, they said THEY TOO wanted to move there. They currently live an hour and a half away in the ‘burbs.

SEREN-FRICKIN-DIPITY.

I’m sure I’ve expressed this before, but AT & UJ have always been my stable parental figures. I adored my Mom Bev and I loved my Dad even with all his demons, but AT & UJ have been a constant positive force in my life. And to have a home EIGHT minutes from them, this is kind of a dream that I didn’t know I wanted or knew could ever happen.

{They have spectacular views but will be MUCH improved with the upcoming Vista Pruning}

I have several other things that I really want to share, but I’m having a time getting my thoughts together. My sweet blog friend Martha had a post recently where she opened it up to her friends to Ask Me Anything. I thought this was so cute and fun to read, so why not do it myself while I muddle through things.

Go ahead, Ask Me Anything.

I mean, not who I voted for or how much $ I have under my mattress. But just about anything else. I DO wonder though, since I’ve been an open book on this old blog, is there anything that you don’t know about me? Hmmmm…..I should probably be more secretive in the future.

I’ll compose a post to answer any questions you might have.

XOXO

  2. Wonderful news about your aunt and uncle. The market is so crazy right now, they were lucky to find just what they… and you! … wanted. As for the question, here’s mine – I’m so envious of those beautiful views, do you have any guest rooms available?

  3. So awesome that you will have your dear aunt and uncle so close to you! It sure looks like a beautiful place too. I’ll ask a question I enjoyed at my place. Where have you traveled in your life and what was your best, most memorable trip?

  4. This is happy, happy news for you, Suz. I know how much Family means to you. I can feel the Joy in this post.

My question is What is your favourite children’s book? Is it one you loved as a child, or is it one you loved sharing with your own children?

Oh, this is such a fun question too. I’ve got a few that come to mind; I’ll add them to my next post.

  5. I love this news! I am so happy for all of you. What fun you will have. 🙂

That is a wonderful idea for a blog post! I might have to do that too.

I love learning about other people, so here are my questions:

-What books have you read that changed your life? If you don’t have any, what movies or tv shows? I love a life-altering something or other. 🙂

I’ve got some in mind; I’ll share in my next post.

  6. The market really IS brutal. My son and DIL have been trying to buy a house for almost a year now. Nothing like a one bedroom apartment with two people working from home!

I’ll ask the same I asked of Martha, what are some of your favorite places you’ve been on vacation?

      1. Worst Vacation? Oh, you are funny. I’m going to have to think about this one.

I hope your Son and DIL find a place soon; they must realllllly love each other.

  7. Congrats to your Aunt & Uncle! And congrats to you too! Living close to the people you love is the absolute best. I’m so happy for you guys. (Also holy carp that view!)

My question (if you don’t mind sharing) – do you have a favorite “name story”? Like how did you pick your kids’ names? Or if that’s too personal (I totally understand), is there a story behind one of your dogs’ names?

No particular reason beyond – I love hearing name stories and folks usually enjoy sharing them. I still remember my best friend (age 9) agonizing for days over what to name her new pony. I mean, the name would be called out at horse shows and in the pasture! The pressure was intense. Thank goodness an adult reminded us about nicknames.

    1. Thank you for the congrats. We are giddy.
Name story for my girls. Hmmmm….I don’t know if it’s an interesting story, but I’ll share it in a post.

The three dogs we have now came with their names. As an adult, we’ve only named ONE dog (Cocoa) as all the others were rescues.
Our orange tabbies were named by us: Harley (he purred loudly) Maisy (after a cartoon the girls loved) and Krispy. (Coach named her Krispy because she was the color of friend chicken-Obviously!)

So funny about the pony name story. Goodness, I hope if she had children as an adult it was easier for her.

I thought I’ve talked about our meeting before; maybe it’s been a long time now.
I’ll share in another post-it’s quite special really.

  8. It sounds like you’re going to have some great new neighbors. Don’t you love it when things work out for the best? [a rhetorical question, not intended to be a question I’m asking you for real]

My question is: why do you live where you live? Deets please.

    1. I swear I’ve talked about the fun and unusual way we met; it must have been a long time ago. I’ll retell the tale soon.

  9. The housing market is insane everywhere. I’m glad your aunt and uncle found a place…and doubly glad it’s so close to you!

Q: What is the best concert you ever attended? Why? And is there one artist or band, living or dead, you wish you could (or could have) seen?

    1. That is a great question. Fun fact: We are HUGE live music fans. I’m going to have to put on my thinking cap to narrow down my favorite.

  10. Where was I yesterday? I can’t believe I didn’t see this post. Been so focused on Tank’s grad video the world is passing me by.

Hooray for the house purchase. Sounds wonderful.

Which brings me to my question and I feel like maybe I should know this, DO AUNT AND UNCLE HAVE CHILDREN? IF NOT, DO YOU HAVE OTHER COUSINS? IF YOU DO, DO YOU SEE THEM MUCH?

As an Irish person everyone assumes I have a ga-zillion cousins. Only had 8 total. 3 I’ve only met a few times – they’re in Portland. Two passed away fairly young. My kids . . . have a ga-zillion cousins. 😉

    1. Thank you! Yes, I have cousins from AT and UJ. I’ll have to share them in an upcoming post. Great question!
I only have seven cousins, but really only see ONE on the regular.

  11. That is just so lovely. My parents moving close by when we had little kids was like winning the lottery, and I would love so much if we had more family nearby (they’re all a five-hour drive in this province or several provinces away). I’m also really glad you had substitute stable parental figures.
