Pre Thanksgiving {Putting Off Priorities} Peanut Update

I have a bazillion things to do, but here I am at my ‘puter.

Things I’ve said this past week:

What were we thinking?

She’s a hawt mess.

Good Lord. This DOG!!!

There is something seriously wrong with her.

My husband has repeatedly said: She’s a puppy.

Me: Nope, she has been dropped on her head at least thrice.

I will not share the nasty details of why I think this because it’s quite disgusting, but this girl was either trapped/locked in a crate/box for, I have no idea how long. I’m just hoping these disgusting habits can be trained out of her. I will be contacting a professional because this is beyond my wheelhouse.

ThankYouBabyJesus there are some cute antics that almost make up for the disgusting stuff.

*almost*

Like, how long can I stay mad when she’s eager to assist with the laundry?

And there is nothing cuter than when she’s sleeping.

I take back the cute sleeping part because when it’s actually bed time, she wants to be ON TOP OF ME, which I can kind of understand, people dream of that stuff, but I’m a ‘need my own space’ while sleeping girl, so this has become a battle of wits. Also, does she have so snore so loud DIRECTLY IN MY EARHOLE?

We should have named her Bunny because look at her butt and look at that hop up the deck stairs.

We’re enjoying our Georgia time, but it’s a bit chilly for Lillie; who knew our Georgia rescue girl was really a Florida girl? Aside from the cold, she’s had some not-so-good days and just when I think it’s time to make That Phone Call For That Decision, she rallies and acts like her old self.

Ok. I really should be cleaning and prepping for guests and Turkey day; I’ve put it off for far too long.

Happy Thanksgiving to all my friends in the USA and Happy third week of November to everyone else.

I’m VERY thankful for all of you who visit my little spot on the Internet. XOXO

  1. She may be nuts, but she is cute. That bunny butt is way too cute. I don’t know a thing about dogs, but I’m sure you’ll figure out what is best for both of you. Happy Thanksgiving to you, too. Stay warm

  2. I don’t know what disgusting things she does… but lord have mercy the cuteness factor is off the charts. (Heck, my husband does disgusting things too but I keep him around… and he’s not nearly as cute.)
Breathe deeply, find the patience at the bottom of your well and know that when sweet Lillie is no longer with you this new addition will be your solace.

  3. River’s comment has me in giggles.

From behind, Peanut resembles a bunny. I’m hoping the bad habits fade away gradually. But it really helps that they’re cute.

Lillie. Oh, my goodness. Such a love.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family. I am grateful for you. ❤️

  4. Ugh..I’m so sorry Peanut is a bit…nuts. I hope she rallies and relaxes. Goodness knows all this poor dog as been through. Hugs to you friend and you navigate all of it. Happy Gobble Gobble Day to you, friend!

  5. I wanna be adopted into a home that has a fire going in the fireplace on chilly days. I’m not usually gross, so maybe I stand half a chance.

I laughed out loud at ‘the stuff people dream of.’ Peanut is cute and maybe Bunny can be a nickname for her. If the name fits, right? Sweet Lillie tolerating her friend who perhaps had an itch? The pic of the two of them sharing the bed is so sweet. I sure hope Peanut’s gross habits fade quickly.

Hope you get all your chores done and find time to chill out. Enjoy your Thanksgiving.

    1. I’ve been calling her Peanut (Bunny) Butter. Tthe dogs are both appreciative of the fireplace going after a chilly visit to the yard. You are welcome anytime, as I know you don’t do gross stuff.

  6. Lillie ignoring the crazy puppy on the bed is the sweetest thing! What a VERY good, patient girl. And Peanut is so cute with his hops! You have a good thing going with those two.

  7. Ohhh…cutest bunny-hop ever! Lily is so patient but I’m sure she was wondering “What on earth???” 🙂

Sorry to hear Peanuts is a bit nuts with some of her habits. But I have no doubt — if there’s anyone who can make her feel secure and loved enough that she’d forget her neurosis, it’d be you and your family! Such a lucky dog!

Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!

  8. Puppy time is like baby time, I figure…thanks goodness the really young are cute and excel at making people fall in love with them because none of us would have survived to adulthood otherwise 🤣. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours, Suz!

    1. Thanks, Deb. We keep saying over and over to each other that she IS such a baby.
I love your theory on the cuteness getting us through all the ‘yucky’ stuff.

  9. Does she eat her own poop? Cuz all the Frenchies I know in real life (2 at the moment) eat their own (and others’) poop! Despite great kennel conditions, special food, training, and deterrents… good thing they are cute!

    1. WHAT? IS THAT COMMON FOR FRENCHIES?

Sorry for yelling. You are giving me validation that this dog isn’t whacky. Or at least TOO wacky. Hmmm….this was one of my biggest concerns with her behavior. It also doesn’t bother her to pee in her crate, which most dogs try to avoid. But I’m guessing she spent so much time crated that she became immune to the peeing, and well, her poop was her food. She has significant food insecurity, and I’m praying we can work on all of the above.

Thank you for chiming in! You have given me hope.

  10. Oh, I am so happy to get a dog update! I was wondering how the puppy was doing – PEANUTTTTT – and also Lillie. Suz, I feel you. Every time I thought I was counting Barkley out, he’d rally. For like a year and a half. It was stressful but of course, wonderful to have the extra time. Maybe Peanut will perk Lillie up?
I’m sorry about the yucky disgusting things, may it pass!!!

  11. Bless her poor little heart, Peanut has a great deal to overcome. She probably never left her cage for months on end. It’s heartbreaking to think of what conditions she may have had to endure.

I’m glad Lillie is still okay and has such patience. Right now, they’re both Living The Dream. (Okay, maybe Lillie a little less so since Peanut joined the fam.)

Happy Thanksgiving. Sneak them some turkey from me.
