The Coach and I had a great week in Georgia with our favorite Texan, D’Anne. It was her first trip to Georgia and the GA Mountains were showing off. Fall For Real.
The weather was perfect, we had no agenda, goals or obligations. We didn’t even have a burning car in the front yard! How fun is that?
We go together like flowers and trees!
We spent a few hours at Gibbs Gardens one afternoon which is such a delight. The Japanese Garden and Wildflowers were off-the-charts gorgeous.
What! I was showing my ass again stretching!
I realized that when D and I were together in March of ’22, we visited an Arboretum in Orlando and this past February we visited the Naples Botanical Gardens together. We love nature. And dogs. And laughing. And eating. We have all the good stuff in common.
We also took a 40 minute drive to Dahlonega, GA. It’s one of my favorite spots to visit; it looks like it’s in a Hallmark Movie, which isn’t so weird because a few have been filmed there. It was named Georgia’s #1 small town. And not just by me, apparently other people like it too. If we’d had more time, I would have found that Little Dive Bar. If you know, you know.
D is so thoughtful; she plopped a little gift bag containing a little goodie for me on the kitchen island every morning. Can you imagine? Getting prezzies JUST FOR BEING ALIVE?
(there were more, but I forgot to take pics)
Something fun (or perhaps annoying to others?) that D and I do over and over is Break Out into Song. You know, just a line or two after one of us says something that spurs a lyric relation. It.happens.all.the.time. So.many.lyric.relations.
While D and I were doing whatever, the Coach took the Frenchies to our ranch property and gave them a taste of their future lives as Cow Dogs.
JK. The girls don’t have the capacity to do anything productive, unless you call tripping over nothing and eating deer poop productive. But a few hours On The Land did wear them out.
I was able to hop on the ‘puter for a minute or two and LO AND BEHOLD you maniacs are blogging every minute day. I’m gonna need ya’ll to chill out, take a breath and have your heads examined. 😳
Anyhoo. We left our fall sweaters and the cool air and we’re back home now with the constant whizzing of the a/c going. If I don’t have a present when I wake up tomorrow, heads will roll.
Do you know about the Little Dive Bar In Dahlonega? Have you been to the GA Mountains? Who is in need of a Check Up From The Neck Up?
XOXO
Best. Cow. Dogs. Ever.
Completely useless I know, but so damned cute.
And while I love your blog as always, I admit I’m feeling cheated. My houseguests don’t leave daily gifts to honor my life and I think this needs to be rectified before I clean the spare bedroom again.
😉

The first morning, when there was a gift, I thought Awwww…..that is so sweet. Then each morning, it just got sweeter. I wish I had thought of this when I visited her earlier in the year!!
Real cow dogs will probably require taller legs and a bit more athleticism. 😜

Sounds like you had a wonderful visit with D! And that photo of the autumnal Japanese garden is spectacular! I love Japanese gardens too. They fill the soul.

This garden spot looks amazing. I love D’s sweater. Fall Y’all. Hee hee. Daily gifts? Have you considered never letting her go back to Texas?
I know nothing of the dive bar or the town you are referring to. I’ve never been to the GA moutains, but if I ever get invited I’ll be sure to come bearing gifts. 😉 I do recall picking up gummy bears the last time I was in Florida and then becoming so excited to meet a certain someone, that I forgot to gift them. The kids devoured them at the airport.
I’m def in need of a checkup from the neck up, but it isn’t due to the blog-a-day deal I’ve embraced. It’s due to other life choices . . . and I’m literally sitting here thinking WHAT WERE WE THINKING?

I wanted her to stay longer, but damn obligations get in the way.
You will certainly visit me one day UP there in the mountains. I still giggle about your bringing me gummy bears, but forgetting them. Hey, your kids need to eat too!
I can’t even guess what life choices you might be pondering today….there are SO MANY! 😳😜

How fun! I was a little overly excited by your first sentence, thinking you were friends with D’Andra Simmons (RHOD), also from Texas🤓 then I noticed there was no ‘dra.’ But D’Anne looks like she’s fun, too🤣
I love Japanese gardens. So gorgeous! I enjoyed seeing your deck. We are twinsies with grey decks and black poles in between.
I’ve only ever been in the ATL airport and driving down 77 once through Georgia to get to Florida. Need to visit sometime when it’s not humid and hot as hell.

My D is much more normal than the D’Andra from RHOD. LOL!! Those chicks are unhinged for the most part. 🙂
Driving through Atlanta, or visiting the ZOO of an airport gives one no indication of how magnificent NW Georgia is!

Those photos are GORGEOUS, wow! We are planning a quick stop in GA on our way to FL this winter and this makes me excited. Your friend is so thoughtful with the gifts, what a great idea when you are a guest in someone’s home…love it!

I’m excited for you to make a trek through GA. Although, if you’re on the highway and/or going through ATL, it won’t be so fantastic. 😦

Those gardens look so lovely! I love going to parks and botanical gardens and just pretending that all that gorgeousness happens naturally. Obviously, it DOES not.
My best friend always sings alternate lyrics to songs, so breaking out into song is just expected in my life.

I love nature, food, laughter, and dogs. I think that I might get along with you.
GIRL, Zac Brown was raised in Dahlonega! I think he owns a restaurant there. Is that the dive bar? I don’t think he’d appreciate you talking about it that way.
Can we go to Dahlonega and stalk ZB if I come down?

I know, we love mostly the same things. It’s serendipity!
Are you sure Zac has a place in Dahlonega? I don’t recall that….and I would think I would have known since we’ve been to the area so many times. I’ll look into it.
Of course, we can go anywhere and everywhere if you come visit.

He was born and raised there, but I don’t know if he still lives there. We will figure that out when we go stalking.

How do I let any and all guests know that from now on, I expect daily hostess gifts? Because NOW THE BAR HAS BEEN SET.
Lovely photos. And I think that your pups are previewing exactly what kind of ranch hands they’ll be–chauffeured. LOL.

Ha! Yes, they’re gonna make terrible ranch hands. 🫣

I rarely see autumnal Japanese gardens so I really appreciated your photos. I don’t know for sure but I suspect that I am in need of A Check Up From The Neck Up. Will muse on that further…

We could probably all use a check up from the neck up now and then. Let me know how yours goes.

I barely have enough to make one or two blog posts a month. Pretty sure I could not do a post a day. Ernie’s crazy but that’s why we love her! Plus she has so many good stories to tell!
It sounds like you and D’Anne have so much fun together!
