Tagged…and I am IT.

I was tagged by the wonderful Modern Mom..

Modern Mom’s blog is How to Survive Life in the Suburbs. She should write a manual… because she has the best advice and the funniest observations ever! And it never hurts to be from Canada…love me some nice Canadians-A !!

I don’t always play along with tags, but since she chose ONLY me out of her 1200 317 followers, I thought I should abide. And she is taller than myself, surely should could put a hurtin’ on me.

The question is: What makes you a True Authentic/Modern Mom?

*I am a truthful Mom. I don’t sugar coat, too much sugar rots your teeth and we have spent a bazillion dollars on teeth around here. If my girls put on an outfit that looks weird to me, I will be the first one to tell them. I try to do this in a tactful way. And sometimes, my opinion means nothing and sometimes it means something. But, they know I am honest when they DO ask me my opinion. If I say it looks good, they know I am being honest.

*I am a fun Mom; with rules. It can be done. Just ask my girls. If you do the hard work at the beginning (house rules, manners, expectations) then they already know right from wrong and you can sit back and enjoy them with some minor tweaking here and there. We joke and laugh all the time..they are two of my favorite-est peeps to hang out with, but they know they can’t manipulate.Mom, Linds, Lauren naples Zoo

*I will go to the ends of the earth for them, and they know this. Lucky for me, this big step is not required on a daily basis.

*I love my husband. My kids see how much I love him. My girls know what a great Dad he is. My kids see what a healthy marriage looks like. We are not perfect, but pretty darn happy. I feel we are giving them a good example of what life can be like when you make good choices.

*I am trying to teach them to be realists in life, how to have fun (no matter your age) how to live as good a life as you can, how to do little things to help our planet…all on a daily basis. Just writing this, it sounds like I do more than I do. I find it pretty easy. Of course, having a great family makes it easy.

Modern Mom tagged only one peep…I shall tag 2. Play along if you like…or not, no biggie.

I am going to tag:

Caution at The Human Race, she has a nice brood at home and constantly finds the funny in everything! Plus, she leaves me the wittiest comments..you know I love funny!

I am going out on a limb here because he is not a Mom, but he is a Modern Dad: Jason at The Jason Show he and his man-cake husband are raising a great modern family. Mix in an ex wife, miscellaneous kids, in laws and living on Wisteria lane…he always has something going on!

Leave me a comment about what makes you a true authentic Mom (or Dad, or Uncle, or Aunt)

Husband tag.

I was tagged by the lovely Betsy to participate in this fun Husband Tag.
oh, this just gives me one more reason to brag about Coach.
There does not seem to be any rules about this tag….which is great. Betsy tagged 4 peeps, so I will do the same.
If you are not tagged, but would love to do this also, please do and let me know!

I am going to tag:

My real life friend Dawn. I know a bit about her husband….but I know she would love to share some more with us!

Jenn at Juggling life , she has hinted at how fab her other half is…I think she would enjoy doing this also.

I am going to tag Smiley girl @ live happy. She is such a silly, sweet girl. But lately she has been down in the dumps….I think this may cheer her up a bit. Plus, her hubby is just as silly as she is.

And Karen GBerger, she must share about her Gregg. They have a great love, these two. They have endured probably the most difficult of challenges in their life together…they are inspirational.

If you are not married, and you HATE men, don’t send hate mail.
If you are married and still don’t like men, don’t send hate mail.
If you are a gay woman, and you don’t like men, don’t send hate mail.
If you are a very attractive gay man , you can write about your husband.

1)Husbands Name: Coach.

2)How long have you been married? May will be 18 years. (I had to get the calculator out to remember)

3)How long did you date? 6 years. And STILL I was a child bride.

4)How old is he? 43

Dating rituals in the 80’s were very primitive.

5)Who eats more sweets? Probably me. I have the sweet tooth and pms.

6)Who is the better singer? Oh, that would be me. Although neither of us really sings well. But I claim to be better. this is my blog.

7)Who is smarter? Ummmppphhh. Wow. Well, since the kids don’t even bother asking for my help with any math or science anymore, I would say he is smarter. He is very book smart. It is extremely annoying.

8)Who does the laundry? ME. I don’t really want anyone else near MY appliances.

9)Who pays the bills? His check goes right into the bank. I pay all the bills. He will ask on occasion: “how much money do we have in the bank?” I have never told him about the offshore accounts though. Those are just for me.

10)Who sleeps on the right side of the bed? Me. Sometimes Cocoa too.

11)Who mows the lawn? Carlos.

12)Who cooks dinner? Me. When we both worked, he did a large portion of dinner. But now, it is just me. But he can cook if he had too. (Like, if I emptied the bank acct and ran away to Vegas.)

He is very good at catching dinner…no pole required.

13)Who drives? When we are together- HIM. He claims to get carsick if I drive…this has been ongoing forever. Kind of a family joke now.

14)Who is the first to say they are wrong? Neither. We are very stubborn. And plus, I am never wrong.

15)Who kissed who first? Um, as far as I know, you have to kiss at the same time. Right?

16)Who asked who out first? Neither. It was a blind date.

17)Who wears the pants? Coach always wears pants. It is frowned upon to go pant- less. I usually wear capri’s or shorts. (We have a very good 50/50 jive going on here)

have you ever loved someone so much that you just wanted to eat their face?

me too.

Honest Scrap

I received this award from Mom X 2

at first when I saw this…I thought it meant I was “scrappy.” You know, kinda tough for a lil‘ person. But it does not mean that at all.

But seriously though, I am scrappy, so don’t mess with me. really. I can put a hurtin‘ on ya’.

As long as I don’t mess up my nails….

Just kidding, I don’t care about my nails…..

Thanks Mom X 2, You are a gem.
I love your blog even though it has a math equation in it…I loathe math.
The rules for this award are:
First, choose a minimum of seven blogs that you find brilliant in content or design.
Secondly, show the seven winners’ names and links on your blog, and leave a comment informing them that they were prized with “Honest Scrap”.
Lastly, list at least ten honest things about yourself.
(why honest? hello, this is the Internet…..this is no place for honesty)
aye yi yi…I always break into a sweat choosing who to pass these on too…me, being the kid who was always picked LAST for kickball……I get an anxiety attack leaving anyone out.
But alas, I will do it, I am not going to cop out and give it to EVERYONE like SHE always does.
So, this has worked for me in the past. I will give it out to the last 7 commenter’s (at this time)
Because really, I don’t read bad stuff….all my time spent reading has to be for brilliant blogs.
I have standards. really. I do. And they are pretty high. darn it.
  1. Tammi. Her blog title is: “I can’t believe anyone would want to read this.” Seriously, why did I not think of this…that is what I say to myself every time I hit the “publish” button…but alas Tammi, I read your stuff. 🙂
  2. Pamela at Siren Sense. She and I have mucho in common, what with our OCD tendencies and being blessed with sloppy children. Irony at it’s finest.
  3. Cassie at In amazing Graceland. Cassie always has something nice to say…she has some pretty adorable pups and she lives in one of my favorite places ever….Arizona!
  4. Jen at Unglazed. Here is a sweet gal living in a bonafide Log Cabin with her sweet pups (oh, and her hubby). She takes great pictures and is sometimes full of crock. (You know, to collect)
  5. The running girl …If ever there was someone to make me feel soooo lazy…..she runs..literally all the time. She has a great family and again…dogs…are we seeing a pattern w/ the pups?
  6. C . Her blog title is Midwestern Mama with a New York heart. She has heart all right…she leaves me the sweetest and well thought out comments. She is pretty funny too….
  7. Jenn at Juggling Life ….she was one of the first blogs I ever had the pleasure of stumbling on to….I never miss a posting of hers and I don’t think she has missed any of mine….she is a brilliant writer and a very smart mother that I have learned a thing or two (ok, 76 things) from.

That was the easy part…now the honesty.

  1. I hate loathe going to the grocery store. I will put it off as long as possible. Sure, we can make dinner out of lasagna noodles, canned beans and frozen bread.
  2. I don’t usually care too much about the cleanliness of my car, but my house? that is a different story. I find that most people put too much emphasis on their vehicles and not the sanitary state of their kitchens.
  3. I secretly think I could be the Super Nanny. I see parents make huge mistakes all the time in public…really, if they asked for my help, I would.
  4. I never stop wondering what my life would be like if my Dad AND my Brother were alive.
  5. I wish I had went away to college.
  6. Sometimes I wish I had a few more kids.
  7. I can’t wait till Coach can retire and we can annoy each other full time.
  8. I LOVE my appliances. (the ones that work that is)
  9. I think my kids are my most fantastic accomplishment.
  10. I would love to have 10 hours of sleep each night. really, I could do it.

4 X 4 Meme

I was tagged for this by Big Hair Envy .

This is one of the easiest tags to do….I really like easy stuff.

Here are the rules:
1. Choose the 4th folder where you store your pictures on your computer.
2. Select the 4th picture in the folder.
3. Explain the picture.
4. Tag 4 people to do the same.

this is a funny one…because of course there is a story with it.
This is the summer of 2007. Our first summer we vacationed at Bear Lake Reserve in N.C.
Coach, myself and our 2 girls and the girls each brought a friend w/ them.

Because we are like, totally the coolest parents evah….

We decided to canoe one day at the lake. Our big idea: Canoe out to the “rock Island.”
Sure, it does not look that far. But of course objects in mirror are further away than they.…oh, that is something different. Sorry.

Coach, he ended up w/ the 2 athletes in his canoe. plus, he is a man. A man w/ muscles.
I have Lindsay (dancer) and her friend in the canoe. And me. Lacking muscles.
It took us 3x longer to make it to the rock island…mostly because we took the zig zag scenic route. I was so exhausted and frustrated by the time we got to the rock. I remember just hitting the side of the rock w/ our canoe, getting out and handing coach my paddles and I let him pull the canoe up to the top of the island.

It ended up being a great time, just a fun day for the kids. We found a rope swing on the other side of the island too…..But I will never forget the zig zagging across that lake….
This was, of course before we learned that there were lots of water snakes too. that would have made my anxiety level just a tad higher..

I always have a hard time choosing who to tag….
I will pick the last 4 peeps who commented on my last post:

The engine of the family

Clippy Mat

Technodoll

Rusin Roundup
